Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the pathophysiology of acute pain related to sickle cell disease
  2. Identify the barriers to pain management of a patient with sickle cell disease
  3. Differentiate between medications used to treat sickle cell acute pain
  4. Develop a medication care plan for a patient with sickle cell disease in acute pain
